J2K (JESUS 2000)

Matthew 24:36 (NKJV)

“But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only.”

Are you old enough to remember when the world was panicking because the calendar was turning to the year 2000? How about trying to wrap your mind around the fact that the United States is only celebrating its 250th anniversary? Maybe it’s finding out that the place where you grew up or went to school is now torn down?

Anyone who is a student of history measures events by dates and years, but you don’t have to be a history buff to do this either. We all have our own dates that we track. When we were born, when we were married, when our children were born, or when we bought our first car or house.

Though many events we track are more positive, we also have those that may not be so pleasant. When the doctor called with the diagnosis, when a person close to you passed away, or when you found out how long you were going to be stuck in your current situation.

Celebrating the good moments that bring us joy is much easier than those that bring us pain. It is probably safe to say that we all want more good moments to celebrate than painful ones, but sometimes life does not cooperate with our desires, and the negative can easily far outnumber the positive.

Over the years I have had my share of both and many times I can recall the painful details of the times that hurt, rather than the joyful moments that I experienced. I can remember vividly the pain, anxiety, and torment, but have trouble remembering some of the details why I smiled, laughed, or was elated.

In the grand scheme of things, our lives are only a brief moment where we may or may not have made an impact. Maybe we were able to get our names in the history books next to those who have been at the center of human history, but most of us will not. But I ask you, who is the first person you think of who has had the greatest impact on us or the world ever?

Most people come up with different answers for the impact on us and the world, but some of us may have the same person as I do. I would have to choose the person that many know but may not praise or even acknowledge. The Lord Jesus Christ! He has affected the world ever since He was born and ministered more than 2000 years ago and I know He has impacted me.

We are preparing to celebrate the most pivotal event in history, and it doesn’t matter if you are a Christian or not. Those who claim to be non-believers still gather and celebrate the day even though they may be more surrounded by eggs and bunnies.

If we were there when Jesus was crucified, we would have experienced the lows and highs I spoke about earlier. Watching the man we loved and served with being beaten and hung from a cross until he died. But then on the third day he was no longer in the grave, and He later walked with us again. Talk about a rollercoaster of emotions.

In our own lives we may have experienced extremely low points, but have we really experienced the high highs the Lord offers us through His sacrifice and door to eternity. The story continued because He has also told us that He is returning, but as the opening scripture tells us, only God knows when that will be.

We do not even know what it is going to look like. Most of us have heard about the rapture with seven years of tribulation, but some think that with everything going on in the world, the tribulation is already here.  Revelation 3:10 may suggest that the faithful will be protected, “Because you have kept My command to persevere, I also will keep you from the hour of trial which shall come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth.”

Some of us may worry because we may be left behind if the rapture happened today. If you are truly concerned, then start looking at what you believe and how you are living. I do not want to miss when the hand of God reaches down to scoop us up. Again, we do not know when, so don’t wait.

It is getting closer every day. Just like there may be different thoughts on the rapture, the exact date that Jesus died can bring some discussion. The more recognized date is April 3rd, 33AD. If you are paying attention to the calendar, Good Friday is April 3rd. This would be seven years before we hit 2000 years after His death (Tribulation?).

Before I push us too far down the rabbit hole, this is just an observation and not a prediction of end times. I will however declare in honor of Y2K, J2K (Jesus 2000). That would be dedicating the next seven years to spreading the love He shared and the life He gave to save us. Let’s make it a bigger celebration than when we turned the millennial calendar.

Let me leave you with two scripture that attempt to describe what we might see when the Lord returns. Revelation 1:7, “Behold, He is coming with clouds, and every eye will see Him, even they who pierced Him. And all the tribes of the earth will mourn because of Him. Even so, Amen.” 1 Thessalonians 4:16, “For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first.”

SHARE HIS LOVE UNTIL THEN

The years keep on rolling with a world always seeming to be on a ledge,
The more we try to find unity only to have division take the edge.

We are supposed to be one people though our opinions may vary,
The undue burdens we place on society can be sometimes hard to carry.

With unreasonable expectations comes an increase of stress,
Seeing so much chaos all around it’s no wonder there’s such a big mess.

The world seems to be falling apart without God at its center,
Dark clouds always seem to be gathering allowing Satan to enter.

Our Lord and Savior died for our sins almost two thousand year ago,
His followers shared his life and death causing the first church to grow.

The crucifixion of Christ was the price that had to be paid,
With his resurrection the stones for a path to heaven were laid

In all the years since, man has created different versions to share,
But they in no way come close to the original when you compare.

Our Lord is coming back but we just don’t know when,
We just need to remain faithful and Share His Love Until Then.
